Clients can now flash their cash like a star and stay at Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive resort – Makepeace Island. Makepeace, a 25-acre authentic Balinese-built property, is open to groups of up to 22 guests.

The Langham, Auckland has been named the top New Zealand hotel in the Condé Nast 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards. The five-star hotel was voted the third best hotel in Oceania overall and was the only New Zealand hotel to feature in the top ten list.

Accor is on track to add over 60 new hotels in Asia Pacific during 2011. With the hotel operator celebrating 20 years of operation in both Australia and Vietnam, they have also signed more than 100 new hotel contracts in the same year. There are over 200 hotels in the pipeline committed to Asia Pacific.

The Motel Association of New Zealand (MANZ) claims the Rugby World Cup is proving to be an economic cost rather than a benefit for some New Zealand businesses, while Wellington has reported its busiest winter on record. 

The Langham, Auckland has welcomed Darren Thurlow as their new hotel manager. Thurlow joins the property most recently from Air New Zealand’s international division but has previously held a range of senior management and operational positions in hotel properties in New Zealand and the United States.
