The Queen strikes a pose

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 was the stage for a fashion parade by New Zealand designer Trelise Cooper.

The Queen Mary 2 had her fashionable debut during her Auckland call on March 4 – part of her third world voyage.

Trelise Cooper showed a selection from her upcoming 2011 summer collections poolside on the decks of the ocean liner.

The Queen Mary 2 is the largest ship ever to visit New Zealand.

Carnival Australia (which operates Cunard in New Zealand) CEO Ann Sherry said the Queen Mary 2 was the perfect backdrop for one of the country’s most celebrated designers.

“Cunard loves to create history-making moments so we were thrilled to support New Zealand talent by offering an international stage to exhibit Trelise’s collection,” Sherry said.

Cooper said it was an honour to be asked to show her range onboard the ocean liner.

“What a privilege to be the first designer to present such a show in New Zealand waters.”

Queen Mary 2 was halfway through her 101-day world voyage when she called at Auckland, and was in Sydney today on March 8.
